Where have 5 years gone?

After having read a friends totally up to date blog, I was reminded how poorly I did with my own and keeping it up to date - so, we shall continue after a long pause.

With Atticus's 5th Birthday just two days away I am ashamed to admit that I have missed almost 4 1/2 year of blogging. I shall post some pictures to catch up to present day and a brief insight into our adventures and day to day activities but it shall remain brief and from this day forward be more thorough.

Hanging around with Tata

We just kinda hung around outside the house. Apparently I am a 'chick magnet' to hang around with Tata said.

Granny Branka Visits

Atticus had a lovely week when Granny Branka visited. We took the train to town and he got to shop lots and is becoming a true professional.

Head to the Hills

We took Atticus to Marin to do some hiking in his new backpack carrier. He seemed very happy to be carried up and down the hill, even settling down for a nap on the way back up.

We stopped for a picnic at the bottom near to the beach which Atti seemed to enjoy. He went exploring with Tata, Tata enjoyed this more I think.

There were a lot of sail boats racing in the bay so we sat a while longer and watched them pass. They only passed in one direction which was puzzling but I'm sure they made it back eventually.

It was an exhausting day for Atticus, and we took him home for a well earned nap.

Yummy Lunch

We went to Leena and Prashant for lunch today and it was delicious. Atticus tried his first spicy food which he seemed to enjoy a lot.

We passed him around the table taking turns in eating, a little exhausting but it all panned out ok. We had a group 'hug' photo taken to remember the great lunch.

Pondering on Life and Food Shopping

Off we went for the weekly shop to TJ's and now Atticus can sit in the cart it makes things a lot easier. Whereas before I had to use the Bjorn carrier, now we can calmly stroll around and Atti enjoys the view and also the attention from many other shoppers. The cute hat helps. Mummy had to buy this hat as Tata didn't want to go out with Atti wearing the first hat that Mummy had purchased saying that it was a "girly bonnet". Fair enough, we'll just use it when Tata isn't with us.

And he's off........

Today was the day that Atticus progressed from the commando crawl to the full on move like lightening crawl. He just got it as he moved across the nursery, up onto the knees he went and there has been no stopping him since.

Deda and Winnie are now constantly on red alert as they seems to be what Atticus gravitates to once he is on a roll. Deda especially is a nervous wreck and I suspect wishes he had eyes in the back of his head.

I, Mama, am getting fitter by the day due to all the running or crawling around after the boy.

Playtime

Today we had a play date with Emily and Sam. We walked to the top of the hill and tried out the slide at McInley Park. Lots of fun was had by all and a nap was required on the way home.

In the Swim

It was time to perfect the front crawl again at the weekend so off it was to the Northbeach Swimming Pool. I didn't take the plunge this time as I was recovering from a cold but Antun and Atticus did a few laps. Atticus made a friend who kind of distracted him from swim practice a little.

Self Feeding

"Hey, this feeding business isn't that hard. I mean, you put some of that mushy stuff on this plastic stick think and throw it towards your face, and sometime it goes in the hole that I make noise out of, which is good, I think".

You Can't Be Serious!!!

"My hat, my hat - you gotta be kidding me right. When did Flock of Seaguls come out of retirement?"

Down by the Bay

We were waiting to see the whale with the polka dot tail down by the bay.

Going to the Park

We went to Golden Gate Park for a picnic today with Kate and Justin. The weather was unusually warm for this time of year and the park was pretty full. Strollers as far as the eye could see!
Kate was very determined to get Atticus crawling and he was trying his best, even Luna assisted in the process.

No I've Got a Real Bike

I was born for speed Baby, speed I tell you. We then removed the helmet for mashed carrots and a change of diaper :)

I Invited Friends to Dinner

I invited Aunty Kate and Uncle Justin over for dinner, mam and dad didn't seem to mind, they were cool. In fact they hung out with us for a while to, just long enough for the old lady to make the food and serve it and the old geezer to pour the wine.

Uncle Justin and I hung out at the end of the table, in a strange orange haze, man, what was in that wine. Not sure the food can have been up to much as Uncle Justin appeared to be trying to bite chunks out of Aunty Kates head. Must have words with mum about her cooking.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells

Christmas came and went in the blink of an eye. Atticus loved all the wrapping paper and only later notices that new toys were around the house. Mama was unfortunately in bed due to a dreaded migraine for the best part of the festivities but Tata occupied Atti for the day and it all went smoothly.

We were still recovering somewhat from the jet lag of our flight from the UK but Atticus didn't let it stop him at all. He had several Christmas outfits for the occasion and wore each of them for a portion of the day - looking mighty adorable in all three.

Surprisingly Atti didn't take that much notice of the lovely tree. I totally expected it to be pulled over at some stage during the festivities but it held up well. He was interested, like all kids, in all of the brightly coloured boxes underneath it however. Thankfully with him not crawling yet it mad things a lot easier for us.

Meeting Deda

Atticus met Deda for the first time a couple of days after we arrived in London. It was a very, very happy event for both boys. Atticus took immediately to Deda and vice versa. That was great for me as I could pass on feeding duties and cuddling duties to someone else for a while.

To London, To London

Off to Blighty we went via Virgin Atlantic on 27th November. We arrived feeling remarkably awake and bright at Heathrow where Granny Branka was waiting camera in hand to greet us.

Stormin Who?

Atticus paraded a little outfit for Halloween which suited his up standing credentials, straight back, multiple chins. He did well, served until at least milk time and then crashed in his crib for 8 hours.

The Windy City

Atticus took his first flight, albeit only a short one of 4 hours, to Chicago to meet up with Daddy who had been teaching there all week. We flew out on Friday 29th September, taking far more than we needed but having never done this before we decided to make sure all eventualities were covered.

Atticus was a dream, and did indeed dream, he slept for pretty much the entire flight thanks to his booby feeding pillow. He received many compliments after landing, the best of which was from the person right in front of us who told us that he hadn't even realised there was a baby there at all. Mommy was very proud.

We did lots of sight seeing, took another first in the shape of a boat ride. Soaked in the atmosphere and nice weather, until the last day of horrid rain and storms that kept us on the runway for 6 hours. All the time Atticus was content to sit back and enjoy and then sleep.

We stayed in a nice little convenient hotel, with sink hanging off the wall and singing shower - all very entertaining.
